CALIFORNIA! |this is a long one|

we took a trip to garden grove. it smelt like lou dog inside the van
OH YEAH

[awesome signs i saw while on my road trip to cali]

earl, celine and i all went on a road trip to california. it was a week long outing and we went to alot of different places in a short amount of time.

we started our trip off at Denny's on 320th [yeah i know. long drive]

[me mentally preparing for the long road ahead.]

So we were driving and driving and driving when we get to the middle of Oregon and are hungry yet again. So we take a random exit and what do we find?

SONIC!

Yes! After watching all those damn commercials about Sonic and never seeing one in the Seattle area we found one in the middle of freaking no where! It was amazing to say the least!

and a little erotic.

[its a drive in but we were sick of our car so we decided to eat outside]

So we continued our journey. We saw this cool guy.

[he loves wood]

AND FINALLY! we ended the first day in San Francisco at Earl's mom's friends studio apartment. We got all squished up and i ate burritos in celebration of making it to California! YAY!

Next thing we know we're on the road again stocking up at a gas station.

[the ridiculous gas prices.]

MORE DRIVING....and more being hungry. we figured you cant go to california without going to an In-N-Out.

[me and earl agreed its not as good as Dicks]

[sleep, eat, sleep, eat: thats basically all she did when we were on the road. haha]

[fabulous pink semi-truck on the way to L.A / Hollywood]

We made it to L.A to see Celine's old buddy Dianne. Her and her mom were really nice to let us stay there for a couple nights! The first night [the day we got there] we went to Hollywood to check out the scene. It was like 9 @ night and a monday and it was completely dead! Hollywood can lick my butt if you ask me. HaHa. the greatest thing we saw there that night was the church of Scientology, seeing a couple famous "stars", going on Hollywood and Vine, and eating at the Zen Zoo. All in all Hollywood is over hyped. Maybe it was just the time we were there at but...wutever.

[really funny to me for some reason]

[Hollywood & Vine]

[Zen Zoo]

The next day we were in the car again. This time we were heading toward San Diego [a whales vagina] and brought along Dianne for the ride to go to seaworld! SeaWorld was so much fun! I love animals and i'm glad to hear that SeaWorld is only trying to help them [like the manatees]. I liked watching the animal shows and feeding the sea lions. they remind me of my beagles!

[manatees!]

[watch your fingers earl!]

[this whale was awesome. me and earl think it was shamu but we weren't sure.]

after SeaWorld we stayed at Earl's Uncles house who lives in Laguna. It was really nice. He took us to dinner, breakfast and to the beach before we left the next morning to go to Universal Studios.

[ya know?!?!]

[Dianne]

UNIVERSAL!

Another amazing amusement park!! The rides and everything were great! One of the cooler things was going on the studio tour where we actually got to see "hot sets" and such.

This is the actual set where the plane crashes in the middle of a neighborhood in the movie "War of the Worlds" with Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning! There's more...

They actually took apart a real airplane to make this scene!

We also saw a lot of other sets: How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Central Park on the show Sienfeild is actually just a patch of grass. [But i still took a picture of it anyway because yah no...Sienfield!]

we went by the houses that Desperate Housewives is shot at but they wouldn't let us go down there because it was a "hot set" and they didn't want us disturbing the actresses.

The next day we started off with some good old fashion Jollibee! Jollibee is this fast food place that started in the philippines and is starting to come over to the US. Obviously we had to go there.

[good sgetti]

[good halo-halo ice and ice cream basically ]

[good drinks]

[not so good hotdog. apparently it wasn't anything like the original one]

we went shopping on Melrose after that. Which i guess is in Beverly Hills? I'm not really sure. Anyway the shops were really cute!

that night we ate dinner with earl's cousin [i think] and her husband and little baby boy. We went to California Pizza Kitchen and then after that went shopping in Santa Monica. I dont have pictures of that because my camera kept taking annoyingly blurry pics.

The next day we said goodbye to LA and to Dianne and headed back up the state toward Fresno. We visited Celines side of the family, who once again treated us to dinner! YAY!

[It was called the Pink Elephant. but its not pink!]

[blurry]

it was so hot there! that's all there really is to say about Fresno. haha.

This trip was so short and a lot of fun! The next day we headed back up to washington. We really want to go back again [particularly by plane and to Laguna Beach] so that we can learn how to surf and also to use our 2006 pass we got from Universal Studios.

[me driving]

THE END!

Alex came to visit Grandpa & Nanna

I don't know how hot it got today but it was a scorcher! Grandpa and Alex went down to shorts, or in Alex's case a diaper! Alex is now doing the da, da, da's and babbling. He is also a fine hair, glasses and lip ring puller, fortunately we did not learn the hard way. He's an advanced baby of course, all Martineau babies are according to Grandpa!

Make Peace not only your goal, but also your way of living.

I am feed up with the news! Lebenon, Iraq, Iran, the Congo and my own city and state, murders, hate, disregard for human life. I don't know what I can do for the big picture, but I know I can impact my small world by everyday making a point to be kind, be patient, be loving. Not only for my family and friends but everyone I encounter.

I am sitting here at 11:40pm instead of being in bed because Miss Nugget decided she really needed to go out and pee. At least that's what she told me. It's funny how when you've had a dog for a while you can totally understand what they are trying to tell you just by looking in there eyes. Well she's back at the door. Good Night - I'll leave you with a cute pic of Kaidra, Ayla and Sam on the 4th of July.

Cherries!

Sam and I picked the cherries in the backyard today, She has been bugging me to do this for weeks. As you can see our small tree produced quite a few cherries this year. Sam happily took home a couple of full baggies, and tested a few too. Not all of the cherries were quite ready but there was no stopping Sam!

Friday Lunch at Salty's

The girls and I took Susan out for a belated Birthday lunch today. What a gorgeous day to sit outside and enjoy Redondo Beach. I need to take Richard down there this summer for fish and chips. It's a little expensive but worth it. Posted by Picasa

Congratulations! Tiffany and Earl Class of 2006

Congratulations Tiffany and Earl!
Decatur High School Class of 2006!
Both are planning on attending Shoreline CC in the fall.
- Best Wishes for a bright future!

"I am unwritten, can't read my mind, I'm undefined
I'm just beginning, the pen's in my hand, ending unplanned
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten"

Ties that Bind

Hey! Guess what Ben and I did yesterday? Oh nothing... Just met the President of Ireland!!!

Here is a poor picture of Ben shaking Mary McAleese's hand and thanking her for visiting Missoula.

Here is my professor Traolach O'Riordian, speaking in the Irish language, welcoming the President.

Overall, the event was great fun. It made me very proud to have studied under Traolach, at the UM, as well as proud of being a citizen of Montana. Montana and Ireland have wonderful cultural connects and I'm looking forward to watching the Irish Studies program here develop and grow. Apparently this will be the only Irish Studies program west of the Mississipi (the only other being at Notre Dame).

Robbery on Mothers Day!

Those dirty bastards! I am mad at myself too. I spent approximately $115 on items to create a Martini Basket for the NWAHU Auction benefiting ChildHaven. After a day of orgainizing the Auction baskets, etc.. Saturday, I left my basket contents the trunk of my car. (OK... thats the part I am mad at myself for.) Everything was in my trunk and I always lock my doors, however it has been warm lately and I left my windows down about an inch, inch and 1/2 maybe. Tiffany thinks that may have been how the robber got in, I don't know. What I do know, stolen are;
1 large basket $3.00
1 bottle of Greys Vodka $35.00
1 bottle of Vermouth $3.25
1 pkg of rim sugar and 5 bottles of mixer $16.31
1 jar Harry and davids onions $5.95
1 jar Harry and Davids cocktail olives $5.95
1 tea towel with a martini glass and recipe design $2.15
2 bar equipment, strainer, stirring spoon $10.86
1 Mikasa silver cocktail skewers & holder $16.31
1 Ultimate Martini book & magnet- Borders $11.64
1 jigger $4.30
-Also stolen; My car registration and envelope of sales papers.
My gas door is bent slightly too.
Genn had CD's in the car, I don't know if any were stolen, she is in California so I'll have to wait for her to get home. They did not steal the box containing the martini glasses and shaker, or the gift certs, tickets etc... contained in the Auction binders - THANK YOU JESUS! - If that had been stolen too.. I think I would have had a nervous breakdown. I don't know why items were left behind but.... thank you, thank you, thank you!
I've learned my lesson.... no more leaving things in the car. Again - Dirty Bastards, on Mother's Day no less, and for a fundraiser!
