Genn - UM Marching Band

This is just a quick post. I promise to follow up with all the pictures and video soon. I went to visit Genn in Missoula (Shelli and Ben too). I watched Genn and the University of Montana Marching Band practice and then perform on Saturday 11-1-08 at the game against Northern Arizona.

Life

Courtesy of Genn; she found this poem amoungst other posts in the daycare staff area where she now works.
I love this life, I love the layers.
There is so much to be learned,
and I tend to forget that.
Each "crisis" is really a very spiritual opportunity,
though it can be hard to see
when you are underneath it.
We are blessed with such love and light in this life,
and I hope to hang onto that without forgetting
that it is always with me.
It never leaves, it is constant.
It is our duty as human beings
to enjoy the gift of this life.
We have been promised a short trip here,
then back to home again.
Try to find the beauty in every day,
even when it's not so pretty.
Its there.
It is the ONE constant.
Don't lose sight of it, it's there, it's in you,
it is who you truly are.
It is easy to miss, but it's there.
Trust it, it hasn't gone anywhere.

Changes

Family life is full of major and minor crises -- the ups and downs of health, success and failure in career, marriage, and divorce -- and all kinds of characters. It is tied to places and events and histories. With all of these felt details, life etches itself into memory and personality. It's difficult to imagine anything more nourishing to the soul. - Thomas Moore

I was perusing through this blog the other day and realized it would be a shame for it not to continue. Hopefully all who can contribute will. It's fun to see your road trips and milestones. I will start contributing again myself.

Love,
Mum

Our Christmas Present to the Martineaus and Pittmans

Dear Safeco

Dear Safeco,
This is the damage your irresponsible driver did to our car, not to mention the bruised & sore back of our daughter. Your total loss adjuster was unprofessional, combative, unapologetic and just plain rude. As you can see - YOUR DRIVER HIT US. - Do the right thing and make us whole and quit the crap.
Signed - A pissed off car owner.

Road Trip to The Dunes in Florence OR

Our first stop, Tillamook OR and the Tillamook Cheese Factory - They have great ice cream too!

This is just a few of the photos of our trip to Florence OR. I will update my online photo album soon. Shelli said we should have told her about the trip, but now that I think about it she was still in school. We camped, sorry I didn't take camping pictures.

JI Drum Set 1st Try

JI is very proud of the drum set she just bought. She says she sucks, and please note this was her first attempt with this piece of music. She is going to give up the guitar lessons and switch to drums lessons since she is in the percussion section of her HS band. She has never had anything to practice on at home except a drum pad, and I guess have a whole drum set makes it far more likely she will practice. Our only concern is the neighbors.... this set is loud!

Wish us luck! Good thing I like drums!

Happy Easter!

Nugget, Stewy and Ozzy helped the girls hunt for eggs.
Happy Easter!
Below: These guys need to work on their egg hunting skills.

Video clips

This is Genn playing guitar in her high school Jazz Band. Genn is to the right of the piano, she is blocked by a music stand. I need to get better at this. Also, my clip cut out before the end of the piece. - Enjoy.

Next up Sam coloring easter eggs.... and Ozzy comes to help.

Preparing for Easter

Sam is the offical Easter Bunny in training this year. We filled eggs with chocolates and gummy worms, sour patch kids and more. We also colored eggs and made cupcakes. It was a busy day - check out www.adogaday.blogspot.com to see how the dogs got involved. Hoppy Easter everyone.
